Touch screens are now an indispensable part of everyday life. Capacitive and resistive touch sensors can be used in rough, dirt-prone industrial and outdoor environments thanks to their robust design. Which system is preferred depends on the area of application. If a display is to be used outdoors, the decision will probably fall on a capacitive touch sensor, as this can be installed behind a scratch-resistant pane. Resistive touch sensors are less sensitive to EMI (electromagnetic interference), which makes them more reliable in areas of application with increased EMI exposure.
